INTERVIEW: CHRISTOPHE MOSER

"Talent and also money"

Christophe Moser, associate professor at EPFL, also founded and managed a technology company. He encourages the transfer of technological research to the start-up.

WHAT IS TECH TRANSFER ?

Technology transfer covers several activities that contribute to two main, partly contradictory, purposes. To promote the transition from scientific discoveries made by universities to practical applications on the one hand, and to defend the economic interests and intellectual property of these same schools on the other.

HOW PATENTS WORK

It is easier to copy an idea than to produce a new one. The purpose of patents is therefore to protect inventors by ensuring that they own their discovery under certain conditions.
